| Aspire was founded in 2009 by Marie Whitaker and Barry Taylor. |
| They have over 35 years “hands-on” and senior management experience in supporting people with a Learning Disability and associated complex needs and challenging behaviours, predominantly on the Autistic Spectrum. |
| Throughout this time Marie and Barry have acquired knowledge, expertise and experience whilst providing high standards of care. |
| Their commitment to ‘Ordinary living’ is a key factor in facilitating lifestyles for adults moving towards independence. |
| Marie and Barry have diverse communication skills and they interact sincerely and honestly thereby establishing, developing, motivating and maintaining effective teamwork and relationships. Marie and Barry are quickly able to identify needs and encourage the development of strengths, with particular emphasis on the Health and Well-being of the individuals. They have a wealth of knowledge of Learning Disability and a solid understanding of Autism. |
| There is specific, in-depth knowledge and experience of supporting individuals diagnosed with Asperger Syndrome. |
| Aspire is committed to providing skilled staff and encouraged personal growth through regular supervisions. |
| Every member of staff undergoes thorough induction training before working ‘hands on’. |
| Comprehensive Training and Development systems allow monitoring and evaluation and strive to exceed the minimum statutory requirements within the first twelve (12) months of employment; this contributes to high staff morale and commitment. |
| Aspire ensures that all staff carryout training as set out in the National Minimum Standards and therefore commence LDQ (Learning Disability Qualification upon commencement of employment. |
| The staff teams within Aspire recognise the importance of structure, some appropriate routine and the need for clear communication. |
| No-one is placed in a situation where they feel confused and unclear of expectations, threatened or vulnerable. |
| Where individuals are in the Autistic Spectrum their impairment of imagination may severely restrict their ability to problem solve and see a way our of day-to-day difficulties. Staff teams within Aspire are trained to recognise this and be aware of problems and flashpoints. |
| A strategy of proactive risk reduction and prevention will be implemented. |
